WRITING…
We are continuing to work on our JFK research papers in English. The students are working VERY hard and are learning a lot about our country’s history in the process!
This week we are typing, editing, and revising our rough drafts. We will also be working on our works cited and bibliography pages. The final copy will be due next week. We encourage you to read your child’s paper and be another “proofreader” for the paper. See if they can persuade you to change your beliefs about the assasination of JFK!

This week we are beginning the outline for our expository paper. The due date for the paper has yet to be assigned. We will also post the rubric once it is handed out to the students.

**Just an FYI about things happening in English before Christmas break!
Grammar…All classes are going to be having their Chapter 5 test, on verbs, next week. Please make sure your child is prepared. Dates will be given to your child from his/her homeroom teacher.
Writing…We are finishing up our Christmas parody songs. They are due and will be performed in class next week. They are very cute. Be sure to ask your child for a preview of his/her performance!!!

*GRAMMAR…
This week we will continue working in Chapter 5 in our English books. This chapter is about verbs. We will also have our vocab unit 2 test on Thursday.
*WRITING…
This week we are finishing our “Spooky” vocabulary stories. These will be typed in the computer lab on Wednesday. Final copies are due on Thursday.

**GRAMMAR…
Monday we will be reviewing for our Chapter 3 test which is on Tuesday. We will also begin Chapter 5 this week. Vocab Unit 2 test will be next week.
**WRITING…
This week we are beginning a small writing assignment with our vocabulary words. Our “spooky” stories will be due and shared with the class next week. Students will be working in pairs for this assignment.

*Grammar…
This week we will finish and begin reviewing Chapter 3 in our English books. Our Chapter 3 test is next Tuesday, October 20.
*Writing…
Our final copy for our narrative essay is due on Thursday, October, 15. If students do not have access to a printer at home, they need to print it at school in the lab before or after school. If they do not have the paper printed by class time on Thursday it will be marked late.
Students have the rubric for this paper in their folders. We encourage you to help your child proofread their paper before turning it in to make sure they have followed the rubric.

*GRAMMAR…
This week we will continue working on Chapter 3 in our Grammar books on nouns. We will also be practicing our second unit of vocabulary words that were given to the students last Friday. This Friday is our September DOL test.
*WRITING…
This week we will continue working on our pre-writing assignments for our personal narrative paper. A due has not been set yet. We will post that and the rubric next week.

This week we will begin Chapter 3 in our grammar books. We will also be preparing for our vocabulary quiz (students have the vocab list in their notebook) that is on Wednesday, September 22.
*Writing…
At the end of this week we will begin brainstorming about our next writing assignment, which is a personal narrative.

This week we will be finishing and reviewing chapter 1 in our English books. Our chapter test will be on Friday. We will also continue reviewing our new vocabulary words this week. The vocab test will be next week.
*Writing…
This week we will be writing in our journals. Since we just finished our descriptive paper, we will not be working on a new writing assignment this week.

*Grammar…
We will finish and review sections 1-4 of Chapter 1. We will also be continuing with D.O.L. Vocab begins this week as well.
*Writing…
The FIRST draft of our descriptive writing assignment is due on Wednesday for peer editing. Friday the SECOND draft will be due (typed) for one last editing. We have changed the due date to *MONDAY, SEPTEMBER, 14TH.* It will be marked half-off if it is handed in on Tuesday. It will not be accepted after Tuesday.
